When We Have More Time

We don't have time!

One of the reasons you may not have time to develop people is that you are not developing people to take some of the workload off of you in the first place. The truth is, there will never be enough time or the right time to invest in others.

There will never be more time or a time when there is less to do and less filling every inch of your schedule.

Make time.

It's about priority not about finding the time.

We will always find ways to fill our time with something that we prioritize.

Make development a priority and you will find the time.

When We Have The Right People

If we just had better people on our teams than development would happen.

Some people will not listen to advice and reject your attempts at development. The best way to find out who's really interested in continual development and who is not is by perusing development and seeing what happens.

There is truth to the fact that some people are the wrong fit on your team for a culture of development. But waiting for the perfect people will ultimately mean you never start at all. Let a culture of development weed out those who have no interest in learning.

What's your biggest excuse?
